When it comes to newborn sessions I tend to have some Frequently Asked Questions so I thought I would tackle those with a blog post.
- When should I book?
As early as possible. Most people book their newborn session in their second trimester but some people book it around their due date. I will always fit as many people in as I can but I do take on a limited number of sessions each month and I have had to turn down several people who have waited too long to book.
2. When does the newborn session take place?
Within the first two weeks ideally. This is when the baby is the sleepiest to get those adorable posed newborn photos. Occasionally, this is out of our control if there are medical concerns but in a perfect situation we like to have those photos done between days five and ten.
3. How long does the session take?
This completely varies depending on the baby. You can expect to be there around two to three hours. Some babies are extra sleepy and out of the studio within the hour, others are having a rough time and are there up to four hours. I would say around two and a half hours is average for a newborn session with family and sibling poses.
4. Do you get a variety of photos?
Yes! In a newborn session we do a variety of posed photos of the baby, family photos and all of those sweet detail photos of things such as fingers and toes.
5. Can we do sibling photos?
Absolutely! Sibling photos and family photos are included in your newborn photo session.
6. What is included in a session?
The session itself and the final digital images are included. A newborn session comes with 25 digital images.
7. Is there a cheaper option?
There is a Petite newborn session that is a smaller session that includes only photos of the baby wrapped up. The reason for this is that babies are quite a bit easier to settle when wrapped so we are able to get a wide variety of images in a short period of time. This package does not include sibling or parent photos. You can find more information about this session right here:
