Recently I was able to do a newborn session for baby Sebastian. He is the newest member of one of my sweet client families and I was thrilled to photograph him. I’ve photographed big brother when he was a newborn, big brothers cake smash and Mama’s maternity photos so I was thrilled to photograph their new baby as well. He was a little less thrilled to meet me and wasn’t a huge fan of his baby photos. Regardless, we still got some great newborn photos of him to help his parents remember this sweet stage.

I can tell that the lighting is starting to change in these late summer family sessions. It’s getting darker earlier and the light is slightly more golden. It’s a great time of year to get photos done if you have littles who can’t stay up until 9 p.m. to reach that golden hour in June or July. A session can easily be held at 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. right now and achieve those rich golden tones. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, summer is my absolute favorite time for family photos and it will always beat fall for the top place in my heart. You just can’t beat those warm evenings with that golden light.
